City Cluster Student Leadership Workshop

Our school captains, Hannah G. and Perry C. and vice captains, Olyvia H. and Jamie D. attended a workshop last Thursday and Friday at Kelvin Grove State College. Student captains from schools including Windsor, Wilston, Eagle Junction, Milton, Petrie Terrace, Ascot, Brisbane Central, Hamilton, Hendra, Kelvin Grove, Newmarket, New Farm and West End attended. Mentors from Kelvin Grove and Queensland Academy of Creative Industries were assigned to each school group.
On Thursday, students participated in a variety of activities that required them to work with students from other schools. The activities all centred on building their skills in team work, socialisation, understanding and using their individual strengths and understanding what makes a good leader. For example, one activity involved the students working with students from other schools to create a new school uniform with only garbage bags and a small amount of masking tape.
On Friday, students were required to put together a small presentation about our school for the mentors. They also discussed their project for the year.
