Community Event Turns into a Surprise Presentation

On Saturday 21 March, longstanding staff member, Mr Michael McDade, was surprised to find that the community event which had been organised for the evening was really an opportunity for a special presentation.  After a family swim and dinner, the marching band put on an unexpected display honouring ‘Sir’ to thank him for the years of service he has given to the school’s Recorder Marching Band.  This was followed by speeches by the Member for Clayfield, Mr Tim Nicholls and Acting Principal, Mrs Leigh Hobart.  Finally, the P&C President, Mrs Nelson, announced that the school pool would be dedicated to Mr McDade and presented him with the plaque which will be put up at the pool.  The plaque reads:
Michael McDade Pool
Recognising 37 years of outstanding service to
Wooloowin State School and its community.
(16th May 1978 – 2nd April 2015)
This area is hereby dedicated in sincere gratitude
for the many years of teaching, guidance, outstanding
leadership and ongoing community service.
You have set an example to be followed in the future and
cherished by those that were fortunate enough to have experienced it.
From your,
Friends, colleagues, students and
community members of Wooloowin State School.
Congratulations Mr McDade!
