Wooloowin State School, constructed in 1914, is a multicultural community with approximately 300 pupils from Prep to Year 6. It is located five kilometres north of the Brisbane CBD on Lutwyche Road.
Wooloowin State School has a strong academic focus with emphasis on the development of Literacy and Numeracy. Our dedicated teachers utilise a range of data when planning to meet the needs of students to ensure a differentiated approach to learning is taking place in all classrooms.
Students have the opportunity to be involved in a range of extra-curricular activities which include a choir, recorder marching band and underwater hockey in the school pool. Our school has a strong instrumental music program and students in Years 4, 5 and 6 take part in interschool sport.
Wooloowin State School has a commitment to being a green school with many environmental initiatives taking place to reduce our environmental foot print.
Our community is proud of our wonderful facilities. The size of classrooms at Wooloowin has been increased by the removal of walls to allow for more flexibility in the types of teaching activities that can take place. All classrooms are air conditioned and interactive whiteboards are used in all rooms as a tool to support learning. All classrooms contain a bank of computers and students also have access to a lab of 15 computers in the library as well as the full computer lab which houses 30 computers. Our air conditioned hall is well utilised by our school community.
Our P&C work tirelessly to support our school. Evidence of their support can be seen in our quality facilities as well as the abundance of teaching and learning resources we have to ensure all of our students are given every opportunity to achieve to their potential.
