Wooloowin State School is committed to providing a safe, respectful and disciplined learning environment for students and staff, where students have opportunities to engage in quality learning experiences and acquire values supportive of their lifelong wellbeing. Wooloowin State School utilises the Positive Behaviour for Learning Framework (formerly known as School Wide Positive Behaviour Support) to implement whole school practices regarding student behaviour.
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) is an evidence-based whole school approach to managing student behaviour. This approach helps schools to create positive learning environments by developing proactive whole-school systems of student and staff support.
Within PBL, the key to facilitating responsible student behaviour and improving relationships is explicit teaching of
school-wide expectations (PDF, 163KB) and regularly acknowledging students for keeping to them.
Strong emphasis is placed on data-based decision-making and regular evaluation of the PBL implementation. Data shows that the process helps reduce problem behaviour and increase academic performance.
The Wooloowin State School Student code of conduct (PDF, 2.1MB) is designed to facilitate high standards of behaviour so that the learning and teaching in our school can be effective and students can participate positively within our school community.
As part of the PBL Framework and the school's expectations, all students are required to wear their correct school uniform every school day. You can find the full school uniform requirements in the
School Dress Code document.
