P&C

We're the Wooloowin State School Parents and Citizens Association (WSS P&C) — a team of passionate volunteers working together to support our amazing school community.

While we love a good school disco and a sizzling sausage sizzle, we're also an official organisation that operates under the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 (Qld). That means we follow a constitution and the guidelines set out by P&Cs Qld, the fantastic statewide body that supports P&Cs just like ours.

At our core, we're here to support education and help make Wooloowin State School the best it can be. The WSS P&C offers a welcoming space for parents, carers, and community members to connect, get involved, and work hand-in-hand with the school's leadership.

Whether you're up for volunteering, sharing ideas, or just want to stay in the loop — we'd love to have you on board!

The more formal details on how to join and how we operate are towards the end of this page.  We thought it was important to tell you about all the fun stuff we do and information that is important to you.

Your 2025 P&C Committee include:-

Kate Isles, President – president@wsspandc.com.au

Kate Laird, Vice-President - vice-president@wsspand.com.au

Lisa Bonner, Secretary-  secretary@wsspandc.com.au

Clayton Lewis, Treasurer -  treasurer@wsspandc.com.au

If you have any questions, comments or feedback we welcome you to contact any or all of us.  We are here to help.  As we are volunteers, we sometimes may not respond straightaway but please know your feedback is important.

Wobbegongs Swim Club

Friday nights are FUN at the Wobbegongs Swimming Club.  From our sausage sizzle to homemade meals, we meet every Friday at the school pool during the swim club season, which begins in Term 4 and continues in Term 1 of the following school year.

Club nights are non-competitive, with swimming times recorded each week and children striving to beat their own times.  All swim club kids are winners because they learn that striving to improve at anything not only brings results – it feels brilliant!

Each season we try to have two carnivals with our nearest neighbours and we end the season with a very special awards night where we celebrate every single wobbies from our pups through to our seniors.

Memberships are available for pups (no timed swims) through to multiple families.  Further details will be announced on memberships in Term 3.

Joanne Staples is the Chair of our Wobbegongs Sub-Committee and supported by a great committee of volunteers.  There is lots of information on our Wobbegongs Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/wooloowinwobbegongs/

If you would like further information please email Jo at wobbies@wsspandc.com.au

When does the P&C meet?

We generally meet twice a term through the school year. Meetings are held in person (at the school library) and available online via Teams on a Thursday evening.  At these meetings, we provide reports on activities from the previous month including finances, reports from our businesses as well as fundraising events.  We also receive a report from the Principal on school events and priorities.

Early in the school year, we hold an Annual General Meeting.  This meeting dissolves all memberships from the previous year and accepts all new applications for membership.  We will elect our Executive Members for the year, appoint our committees and working parties and set a working budget for the next 12 months. Our Audited Financial Reports are presented at this time.

P&C meetings are held every 2nd and 7th week of the term on a Thursday evening commencing at 6pm.

Who can attend?

Any community member is welcome to attend our meetings.  At the end of each meeting we invite applications for membership.  Membership on the committee is open to all and this gives you the opportunity to vote on any decisions that we make.  To become a member you will need to complete a membership form.  Of course, you are still able to attend without becoming a member, and there is no obligation to attend every meeting we hold. All persons attending the meeting must abide by the Code of Conduct (PDF, 377 KB).
